APIA U: Leadership provides Asian/Pacific Islander American (APIA) student leaders and activists a unique training that focuses on development of leadership and organizational skills that are relevant to APIA campuses and communities.Please sign up for the training nearest to you. VASA Easter Activity Day: VASA is hosting their second annual Easter Activity Day at the Hser Ner Moo Refugee Community Center (479 East 2250 South) on Friday, March 29, 2013. There are a lot of volunteers needed for this event to help out with art and crafts activities as well as an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. You will need to be there around 1:00PM to 1:30PM to set up for the kids by 2:00PM. I strongly suggest you all go and support VASA. It will be a lot of fun!!! :D
India Night 2013: The Indian Students Association at the U of U is hosting their India Night 2013 on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Libby Gardner Hall at the University of Utah. The event is filled with dances, songs, plays, amazing performances, and some food!! The program will be held from 4:30PM to 8:00PM. The tickets are being sold at the Union front desk for $6, so get it before it runs out!! They are selling the tickets on the day of the performances, but it will be $8 that day instead. I recommed you all go if you don't have any plans, it will be super fun!!!! :D

Rock the U: Rock the U is powered by more than 30 energized student leaders and is a campus-wide, dance marathon aimed at aiding and supporting cancer research. All proceeds go to Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) to directly benefit cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). When you register for this event, please register under AASA. This event will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013. I hope a lot you can make it to this event!!
The Asian Festival: The annual Asian Festival is taking place on June, 8, 2013 at the South Towne Expo Center (9575 South State Street, Sandy, Utah 84070). Premed Conference: The Premed Conference is held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the University Guesthouse. There are lots of suture clinic and vital sign workshops. The registration fee is only $10 and you MUST pay to complete the registration. This conference is open for U of U (current, prospective and post-bachelor students), Westminister, and SLCC students.
Shriner's Children's Hospital Service: The hospital is hosting their event on March 30, 2013. They are in need of volunteers!! Papanikolas Scholarship: The scholarship supports qualified undergraduate students who are members of a Native American Tribe recognized by the United States Government, undergraduate students who demonstrate experience or commitment to working with the Asian American, Pacific Islander, or African American communities.
AASA High School Conference Volunteer Training: For everyone who signed up for volunteering during our high school conference, we are hosting a training next week at Union CORC Room. There are three different times: Tuesday at 2:30PM-3:00PM Wednesday at 1:00PM -1:30PM Friday at 2:30PM-3:00PM

Presidential Ambassadorship: The Presidential Ambassadorship in Higher Education program is looking for a small, diverse group of individuals who will represent the University of Utah and President Pershing well. Students will work with the Office of Undergraduate Studies on the Student Success and Empowerment Initiative and the Office of Admissions on Student Recruitment, as well as assisting President Pershing and members of his staff at various campus events." College of Social and Behavioral Science Ambassador: The College of Social and Behavioral Science is seeking students to serve on the 2013-2014 CSBS Ambassador team. Students selected will receive a $2,000 award per academic year for their service." The application is due on Monday, March 18, 2013. I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who has brought the Red Thread Movement Bracelets so far. Within the last two weeks, we have sold about 80 of them!! It may not seem much, but these bracelets help us raise awareness on the heinous crime of sexual exploitation across the world. If not much, AASA is proud to announce that at least we were able to get 80 people be aware of this issue. :D I want to give a huge thanks to MeChA, who has helped us in this project!! :) If any of you are interested in buying one, I (Sudha) will have them with me at the next AASA meeting. They are $3, so please bring cash! :D Thank you!!

Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service I Saturday, January 19, 2013 I 8:30AM-12:00PM I Bennion Center We are doing a service project with Bennion Center next Saturday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. :D We are meeting at the Bennion Center for some FREE BREAKFAST! There are 5 different sites to volunteer at during that day, but AASA will be going to the Utah AIDS Foundation! We will head there after the FREE BREAKFAST! :D We will give you the service hours if you need it! :) I hope to see some of you there! It's a fun and exciting way to give back to the community! If you want to join us, then please let me know by next Thursday because I need to make a list of people who's going and give it to the Bennion Center, that way we can all go to the same site. :D
