- There will be a student panel on "Gender and Sexuality in Asian (America)" from 2:00PM-3:00PM in the Union Den. Free food provided (banh mi!) :D
- There will also be a lecture on "Reducing Bullying: Asian Pacific American Teen Perspectives" by SLCC distinguished professor Dr. Karen Kwan!
This will be in the SLCC Student Union building from 12:00PM-1:00PM. Poster for Karen's lecture here!
Speaking of Dr. Kwan, she is also the first Chinese Asian American to run for Utah House!!! It'd mean a lot if you support her by liking her FB page :)

Asian American Graduation | Saturday, April 26th | 4:00PM-6:00PM

I'd like to clarify that you do not have to be involved with AASA to be a part of the Asian American Graduation. This event is a sit-down dinner and will be held at the new business building (SFEBB) in room 7170/7180. It is for undergraduate/graduate Asian/Asian American students who will be graduating this Spring, this Summer, or graduated last Fall but are walking this May. You'll receive a stole, some time at the event to speak out on your educational journey, and may bring 2 guests. Fill out the form to register!!!
Nihon Matsuri Festival | Saturday, April 26th | 10:00AM-5:00PM
Nihon Matsuri is an outdoor Japanese cultural festival and will be held at 100 South (Japantown Street), between 200 & 300 West. It's free admission and there will be live performances, food stands, vendors, etc :D Contact Merissa Nakamura firstname.lastname@example.org if interested in volunteering at the festival for the JACL booth!!! Kimchi Eating Contest by Cupbop | Thursday, April 10th | Noon
Cupbop is one of the food trucks you might see around campus that serves Korean BBQ in a cup, and they're having a kimchi eating contest at the Gallivan Center (this is by Gallivan Trax Station)! Contest will be broadcast on a Korean YouTube channel. Winner gets $25 and a $25 gift certificate for Cupbop! Message Cupbop here to reserve a spot :)
Cambodian New Year 2014 | Saturday, April 12th
Cambodian New Year will be held at the Miss Saigon Reception Center (2644 W 2365 S, West Valley City)!!!
Morning: 9AM You can observe and listen to the monks chanting.
Afternoon: 1PM Cambodian Traditional Dances, Miss Cambodian Utah Pageant, Talent Show, Children's Fashion Show, Khmer Wedding Fashion Show, Singing (special guest)!
Evening: 6PM Music and dancing, and a one man band performance by Rachana Lux
It's free admission for this event; food and drinks will be sold all day! :D
UNICEF Red U Run 5K | Saturday, April 12th | 9:00AM-12:00PM
UNICEF Red is having a U Run 5K this Saturday! Register online here. :D This event will have free food, music, prizes, shirts, swag bags, sunglasses, water bottles, etc and will help fundraise for children humanitarian aid. Event starts at 9AM and you meet at the Marriot Library.
End of Year International Student BBQ | Saturday, April 12th | 1:00PM-5:00PM
After the 5K, International Ambassadors of the International Student Services (ISS) is having a BBQ at the U of U Pavillion (near Sage Point, this is by the dorms!). All students invited and welcome to bring friends, there will be an international potluck, BBQ, music, and games. FB event here!
Diana and Karl Ping Pong Fundraiser | Friday, April 18th | 5:00 or 5:30PM
Our members Diana and Karl will be playing ping pong nationally (WHOOO!!!) in Virginia and are hosting a ping pong tourney to help fundraise for their expenses. It will be on campus at HPER North 101, $10 to play, learn from Diana or Karl, and you can donate/pay to challenge them to a game (if you win, you'll get more money than you challenged for).
