October 21st, Friday:
***Candy Bags for Primary Children Hospital!
Candies will be provided! Help AASA fill bags up with candy and donate them to Primary Children Hospital!
***Nightmare on 13th Social!
We'll be having an AASA social at Nightmare on 13th Haunted House! Please plan on being there and meeting up at 7pm, as the place opens at 7:30 I will be posting directions to the location by TRAX. Take blue or red line to get to Ballpark Station. Directions is on Facebook!
U event-Office for Equity and Diversity, focus on remembering the Holocaust, religious discrimination (Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism)
25th-student-based discussion led by Hamza and Samah, safe space, free food!!!!

We are teaming up with Tea Bar to hold a fundraiser for us to use for future events! 20% of your orders will be donated to AASA! The fundraiser will only be available between 3 PM to 9 PM.

I hope you are all doing very well on your finals! This semester is almost officially over, so hang in there!! :D I would like to share some great opportunities with you all:
***Utah Scholars Coaches | Recruiting Coaches Now: Apply!
Utah Scholars Initiative but is a program where volunteers attend 8th grade classrooms and give short presentations on the curriculum they should be taking in high school to both prepare for college as well as be eligible for the Regents Scholarship. This year we piloted a new component, the Utah Scholars Coaches. Coaches are undergraduates that are placed in schools to work with 10th grade students on college knowledge and preparation. We are currently in four schools; Kearns, Granger, Hunter, and Ogden. We are currently recruiting a new batch of interested and motivated Coaches to work with our students’ afterschool. We are asking for a yearlong commitment of approx. 3-5 hours per week, and at the end of the year the students will receive a $1,000 educational award/scholarship.

***Golden Spike FREE Bus Trip
1. Sunday, May 10 meet at the Chinatown Mall - west parking lot on Main Street; Chinatown address is 3390 South State Street. Cars can be parked in the Main Street (west side of the mall) lot for the day.
2. The Bus will leave at 8:00am and return @4:30pm
3. People should bring their own lunches or plan on purchasing their lunch at the Golden Spike.
4. The bus will also take guests to Chinese Arch for a brief photo session.
5. This bus is being paid for by donations gathered by Corky Lee and there will be no charge for riding the bus. Reservations for seats will be given to the first 56 people who respond by calling:

***BEACON Grad/Career Prep Program | Apply Now!
Next school year we are going to be offering a Graduate School/Career Building preparation program for students who are within 45-60 credits of graduating. The program is designed to serve first generation and underrepresented students, and plans to meet Fridays at 10am. I'd like to ask if you could please send this application out to students, we would greatly appreciate it. Our priority DUE DATE is May 13, 2015.

***Utah College Advising Corps | Applications Due June 1st
The Utah College Advising Corps is a university-based, college access initiative that seeks to help more Utah students from low-income, first-generation and underrepresented backgrounds attend college. Recent college graduates will serve as college access advisors in selected public secondary institutions throughout the State. Working alongside school staff, advisors will assist students with navigating the college admissions process. This includes, but is not limited to admissions applications, financial aid forms and scholarship applications, and college entrance examination registration and preparation. This position is on a 10-month contract and begins August 3, 2015 and ends May 31, 2016.
