United Way of Salt Lake Intership

United Way 2-1-1 requires someone who has familiarity with computers and can maintain a database. This work will demand a high level of attention to detail. You will be contacting individuals who have signed up for the Utah Special Needs Registry and updating the database. It will be important for you to be patient, courteous, and a good listener who doesn't have trouble speaking with seniors and people with special needs.

CHCI Congressional Internship

The Congressional Internship Program provides college students with a paid work placement in a Congressional Office or Federal Agency for a period of twelve weeks (Spring/Fall) or eight weeks (Summer). This unmatched experience allows students to learn first hand about our nation's legislative process.

Internships with The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Washington, D.C., offers part-time and full-time internships during spring and fall semesters and full-time internships during the summer.  Part-time applicants who can commit to at least 20 hours a week will be considered during the spring and fall semesters.  Interns at the Initiative are responsible for assisting the staff in researching a wide range of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues, including education, health, sustainable neighborhoods, economic development, civil rights, and labor and employment.  In addition, interns will help write policy memos and proposals, coordinate events, and conduct outreach to national and local AAPI organizations, elected officials, and ethnic media outlets.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program

Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

Health Career Connection

Health Career Connection (HCC) provides paid internship opportunities to undergraduate students interested in careers in public health and healthcare, with a priority emphasis on Health Management and Policy, Health Education, Community Health, Environmental Health, other areas of Public Health, Health Information Technology, Health Finance, Healthcare Consulting and Nursing Administration.

Asian American Justice Center
Deadline: February 15, 2013

The AAJC Summer Clerkship Program is a competitive program for law students. The program provides a structured and intensive experience for students to immerse in civil rights issues and prepare for careers in public interest law and advocacy. Law clerks work together with staff attorneys in an arrangement that fosters leadership, peer learning, and organizational behavior learning. Clerks develop measurable goals and meet regularly with the Summer Program Coordinator to discuss the progress of their work. Equally important, clerks share their progress with each other in a collaborative environment.

Senator Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program
Application Deadline: November 9, 2012

Each participant is assigned to the office of a State Senator or the Lieutenant Governor to perform a variety of legislative tasks. Complementing the work experience, they will meet with local and state leaders for weekly sessions to discuss leadership development and public policies that shape the community. Scholars and Fellows will receive a monthly stipend to compensate for worked performed and assist with living expenses.

Southeast Asian Mentee Program

NCI Service Program

The Nikkei Community Internship (NCI) is an eight-week summer program. Interns are placed at a Japanese American community-based organization in the Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Areas for four days of the week. One day of each week is reserved for a training meeting and debriefing, including field trips and speakers for cultural and community exposure. 
In addition to the weekly training meetings, interns will also participate in three statewide retreats. With the help of Southwest Airlines, interns from Los Angeles Little Tokyo, San Jose Nihonmachi and San Francisco Japantown will be given the opportunity to visit and meet community leaders in both regions to further their discussions on Japantown preservation and community leadership.
